STSL League Meets
The STSL season consists of dual or triangular meets among individual teams, and three league-wide meets. The three league meets are scheduled in order each season.| 2009 Update |
---
For the last few years, the League has experimented with a weighted scoring system at the League meets to account for the wide disparity in team sizes and to allow a smaller team to be competitive with the larger teams in the league. In previous years, the traditional total number of points scored by a team was divided by the number of splashes. A final weighted scoring rule has still not been adopted in the STSL Bylaws.
At the May 19, 2009 Members' Council meeting, the following update to our weighted scoring approach was adopted:
- Weighted scoring:
- During the 2009 season, a weighted scoring system will prevail for the "A", "B" and League Championship meets only. Regular scoring will prevail for all dual meets. The final scores will be computed by dividing the number of points by the number of participating athletes. In the case of a tie, the decimal will be followed as many places as needed to the point of breaking the ties. A participating athlete is any athlete with a place finish or disqualification in any individual or relay event. At the B Meet, an A-Meet qualifying time is recorded as an exhibition swim, not a place finish. A place finish is not limited to those places earning points.
B-Meet
---
The B-Meet is a last-chance meet for swimmers to earn A-Meet qualifying times (see below), and a championship meet for swimmers who do not have qualifying times. Swimmers are eligible for individual events who have not yet earned an A-Meet qualifying time in a league-sanctioned meet during the season. There are no relay events.
Swimmers may be eligible for both the A-Meet and the B-Meet based on their times, and swim different events at the two meets accordingly. That is, a swimmer swims events at the A-Meet for which he/she has qualifying times, and the other individual events at the B-Meet.
A-Meet
---
The A-Meet is the second league meet. Swimmers are eligible for individual events who have equaled or beaten the A-Meet qualifying time in a league-sanctioned meet (i.e., dual/triangular meets and the B-Meet) during the current season. There are relay events, for up to two relay teams from each member team for each relay event. Swimmers who have otherwise not qualified for the A-Meet with a qualifying time may participate on relay teams.
The qualifying times for the A-Meet are determined from the official times of the League Championship Meet from the previous season. For each individual event, the qualifying time is that of the 12th-place, or if there were fewer than 12 finishers, the last place finisher in that event in the previous League Championship Meet.
A-Meet qualifying times are listed here .

Championship Meet

The League Championship Meet, or City Meet, is the final league meet. Member swimmers are eligible who have swum in at least two league-sanctioned meets (dual/triangular, A-Meet, or B-Meet) during the current season.
